Job Description
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities of production workers, including operational, personnel, and administrative tasks. This role focuses on developing a high-performance team, ensuring production efficiency, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Decision Making:
- Oversee daily staffing of operations and assign personnel to production areas.
- Prioritize tasks based on available staff and production needs.
- Ensure quality control, machine capability, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage any mechanical or personnel issues that could impact efficiency or increase costs.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise up to 20 hourly employees and coordinate maintenance staff.
- Enforce safety standards and company policies at all times.
- Develop employees to perform effectively in a self-directed work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and operational procedures.
Employee Training & Development:
- Conduct employee performance reviews and provide coaching.
- Resolve employee issues, including handling grievances (if applicable).
- Lead training on corporate programs, food safety, employee safety, GMPs, and environmental regulations.
- Manage timekeeping and attendance records for payroll accuracy.
Operational Efficiency & Compliance:
- Supervise production schedules and adjust workflows as needed.
- Optimize safety, quality, and cost objectives through team collaboration and problem-solving.
- Conduct monthly safety and food safety audits and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Review and maintain accurate production paperwork.
- Coordinate with other departments on quality control, materials, and operational improvements.
- Work closely with management to address safety, employee concerns, and productivity challenges.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required (Business, Management, or Engineering preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing plant.
- Experience in a unionized environment is a plus.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to coordinate with various departments and levels of management.
- Customer-oriented mindset, both internally and externally.
