Job Title : Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) - Psych

Location : New York, NY

Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM

Assignment Length : 26 weeks, with possible extension

Position Overview :

We are seeking a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) for a temporary 26-week assignment to provide essential psychosocial support for acute psychiatric patients. This role involves assessing patients’ psychosocial needs, developing therapeutic interventions, and providing both individual and group therapy. The position also requires the ability to engage with patients experiencing acute psychiatric conditions, with a focus on utilizing therapeutic approaches such as DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and / or CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify patients' emotional, psychological, and social needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide individual therapy and group therapy for patients with acute psychiatric conditions.
  • Utilize DBT and / or CBT techniques to support patients in managing emotional distress and challenging behaviors.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care to patients.
  • Offer crisis intervention as needed and ensure the safety and well-being of patients in both group and individual therapy sessions.
  • Qualifications :
  • Required :

Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW).

  • New York State LMSW license .
  • Strong communication skills , with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting psychosocial assessments .
  • Preferred :
  • Experience working with acute psychiatric patients .

  • Experience in providing individual and group therapy .
  • Knowledge and experience with DBT and / or CBT as therapeutic interventions.
  • Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) certification is required.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Ability to work independently and manage complex cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with patients dealing with psychiatric conditions.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Working Conditions :

  • This is a 26-week assignment
  • Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM.
