RTI International is seeking PART-TIME DATA COLLECTORS on the state-sponsored research study called the Michigan PFAS Exposure and Health Study (MiPEHS) . This important health study seeks to understand the impact of the Michigan resident’s exposure to per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on their physical health.

PART TIME DATA COLLECTORS will be responsible for traveling to selected locations to recruit study participants, making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, & obtain participation. They will be tasked with accurately completing all project documents including electronic survey instruments (provided tablet) and all reporting forms. The PT Field Interviewer will Collect confidential information and administer standardized questionnaires to local individuals, while also managing administrative duties (including participating in conference calls, completing online trainings, & transmitting data as scheduled). This role is expected to maintain a professional, cooperative relationship with your data collection supervisor and other project staff.

THIS STUDY : In Michigan, the Belmont / Rockford area and the City of Parchment / Cooper Township area had drinking water samples with elevated PFAS levels when testing in 2018. Since this initial testing, the study has conducted a health survey, anthropometric measures (i.e. blood pressure, weight, and height), and blood samples from eligible sample members to better understand the impact of PFAS exposure on health.
In 2023, this study conducted in-person household outreach to enroll participants.
