RTI's Transformative Research Unit for Equity (TRUE) is focused on reimagining traditional research practices and creating systems that advance racial equity and social justice. TRUE has an immediate opening for a team member who can contribute to the growth of the Center for Equity and Social Justice Research (CESJR). The CESJR Center is focused on four areas: 1) Environmental Justice and Infrastructure Equity, 2) Health Equity, 2) Community Safety and Healing, and 4) Equitable Education systems. The Research and Technical Assistance Analyst will be part of a growing team that supports projects and initiatives across all focus areas. TRUE contributes research and evaluation to enable systems to become more equitable (i.e., health systems, community-systems and infrastructure, educational systems). We take an intersectional approach to make sense of problems and to imagine alternative solutions.
Responsibilities
We are looking for team members who are excited about leveraging their experience to advance equity and social justice. TRUE's CESJR has an immediate opening for a Project Coordinator who will focus on supporting the management and coordination of projects and lead delivery of technical assistance. Our team leads and collaborates on many types of projects some in research and evaluation, technical assistance, methods training, and strategic advising. Candidates should have demonstrated work experience in at least one of the focus areas. The Project Coordinator will lead and contribute to various projects and initiatives across TRUE.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Project Implementation
- Responsible for responsive, compliant, and impactful programming through the monitoring and advising of overall operational and technical quality of deliverables.
- Responsible for the accuracy of project timelines, tasks, milestones, resource requirements, costs, risks and execution for any assigned projects.
- Support the Project Director and relevant TRUE staff in the definition and execution of project activities; the development of plans, schedules, budgets and deliverable; management of grants; and performance issues with project staff and sub-contractors or sub-awardees.
- Monitor and review project budget and expenditures, financial forecasts, working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate and client regulations.
- Regularly confer with the Project Director for any assigned projects to get performance feedback and to resolve problems or issues should they arise.
- May directly supervise other project staff (i.e., Task Leads, Project Managers, Project Associates, etc.) to ensure project quality.
- Work with Project Director and assigned staff to create cohesive processes that maximize staff resources and coordinate with internal business units needed to successfully execute project activities
- In partnership with Project Direct, create a project data management and data analysis plan to meet all for reporting requirements. These activities could include creating and maintaining project tracking systems.
- Lead planning for and contribute to delivery of work product, technical memoranda, proposals, reports, and presentations as assigned for multi-year, complex projects
- Facilitate project leadership review meetings and support internal project review processes
- Lead the the creation and maintenance of IRB or OMB package materials or other project related procedures and protocols necessary to successfully carry out project work
- Lead development of systems to obtain feedback on project activities from multiple groups
- Contribute to dissemination plans to share lessons and insights from implementation approaches that center equity and community voice
- Work with project teams to implement quality assurance protocols, review project plans, and apply quality controls to ensure delivery of accurate and impactful work products
Technical Assistance Tasks
- Support planning and execution of multimodal outreach strategies tailored to reach community-based organizations across varied geographic areas
- Support development of training materials, webinars, and partner communication plans
- Lead development of tracking systems for reporting and analyzing delivery of technical assistance activities
- Develop materials to enable community-based organizations to report on project success measures
- Collaborate with other business units to identify synergies and overlap in technical assistance systems across business units
- Coordinate communications and facilitate project update meetings with external and internal partners
- Lead and execute a communication plans to deliver consistent, clear, and informative communications to partners including grantees, community partners, researchers, consultants and state and federal agency staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in public policy or related social science field and at least three years of work experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least five years of work experience
- Applied experience centering equity in research methods, research projects, and evaluations
- Demonstrated work experience gained in a professional work setting (e.g., consultancy, industry, nonprofit organization) in at least one of the four focus areas. Environmental Justice and Infrastructure Equity, Health Equity, Community Safety and Healing, and Equitable Education systems
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Experience leading implementation of large, complex projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently
- Self-motivated with the ability to deliver high quality work products within established deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff in different geographic locations and across a range of levels of experience
- Growth mindset with demonstrated ability to take in and act on feedback to improve performance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, teams, Visio, and project management software
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks
- To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in grants management, preferrable in the public sector
- Demonstrated experience supporting funding proposal preparation and submission processes to federal agencies, philanthropic organizations, and non-governmental organizations
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical assistance to community-based organizations and non-research audiences
