RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Laboratory services duties (specimen receipt, specimen acceptability, entering information into LIMS, ordering/receipt of supplies, report distribution)
  • Perform non-licensed testing, interpret results, and review pending reports
  • Perform quality control of microorganisms, reagents, and equipment in the laboratory
  • Obtain and file specimen rejection forms and revision requests as needed
  • Identification of microorganisms from solid and liquid media
  • Microbial reads, Gram Stain, Vitek instrumentation
  • Documents and maintains all internal customer requests, discrepancies, complaints, and escalates to leadership for resolution
  • Adheres to all regulatory, safety, and sampling requirements
  • Assists in mentoring and training other team members
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred

Experience

  • 2 years of experience working in a Laboratory
  • Experience working in Microbiology Laboratory, preferred. 

Certification

  • N/A

Skills 

  • Laboratory software
  • Strong verbal and written communication 
  • Aseptic technique and sterile consciousness
  • General laboratory bench techniques
  • Recognizes variables that could affect test results

Travel 

  • N/A

SAFETY

Physical Requirement

  • Move or lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent (>75%) stationary position (standing or sitting) while utilizing digital displays
  • Frequent (>75%) fine manipulation using hands and fingers (typing, opening, writing, clicking, paper sorting, etc.)

Working Environment

  • Constant wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Rigidly controlled and sterile environment; possible work near biomedical and chemical hazards
