Saint Croix is looking for a Technical Designer to help us ensure that designs move seamlessly from concept to production, bridging the gap between creativity and functionality by transforming creative ideas into garments manufactured and distributed efficiently with accurate shape, fit and construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proficient in garment construction, pattern-making, grading, sizing standards, fit principles, and textile properties to achieve the proper fit, textures, proportions and emphasis for each design.
• Familiarity with industry-standard software like Adobe Illustrator, CLO 3D, or Gerber.
• Proficient in reviewing sketches to determine project specifications.
• Meticulous in reviewing specs, measurements, and design details to avoid errors.
• Set quality standards and ensure these are met at every stage of development.
• Identify and resolve design and production challenges efficiently.
• Adapt designs to balance creativity, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Clearly conveys design intent and technical specifications to cross-functional teams, including designers, pattern makers, and manufacturers.
• Provide actionable feedback during fittings and product reviews.
• Work closely with designers, pattern maker, and manufacturers to bring concepts to life efficiently.
• Work closely with vendors and purchasing to achieve the proper fit, textures, proportions and emphasis for purchased garments.
• Build strong relationships across teams to facilitate smooth workflows.
• Collaborate with fashion designers to replace untenable elements with feasible alternatives.
• Create accurate and detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction details, and fabric requirements
• Ensure that tech packs are easy to understand and follow for manufacturers.
• Evaluate sample fits with a critical eye, providing necessary adjustments and improvements to achieve the desired silhouette and functionality
• Identify potential concerns, test possible solutions, improve plans based on past events and assess final products critically.
• Collaborate with pattern maker to produce patterns accurately reflecting garment specifications.
• Stay updated on market trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable practices.
• Incorporates innovative solutions into technical design processes.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously without compromising quality
•  Maintain clear records of design iterations and approvals
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for apparel design and a commitment to producing high-quality products
• Take ownership of their work and continuously seeks opportunities for growth and improvement
• Work as a team with all departments
• Keep work area clean and maintain a safe work environment
