What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Support Manager position at Ruan Transportation Management Systems?
The Maintenance Support Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining policies and procedures to support vehicle maintenance and shop operations. This role will oversee and coordinate equipment specification reviews and is responsible for state and federal guideline adherence as it relates to maintenance operations.

- Create performance maintanence (PM) procedures for tractor and trailers ensuring inspections meet all government safety requirements, customer needs, supplier recommendations and preserve the value of the fleet. Ensure governmental and regulatory compliance of all equipment and in particular Haz-Mat equipment. Establish and monitor required tank inspections and certifications. Coordinate with asset management to ensure fleet maintains CARB compliance
- Evaluate customer equipment needs. Calculate and determine specifications considering company requirements and governmental regulations. Conduct vendor price comparison. Monitor building of vehicles/equipment and complete pilot inspections. Special tooling identification and purchase and evaluate equipment for re-deployment.
- Develop and maintain good business relationships with vendors and across the organization and collaborate to achieve business success and serve as a subject matter expert. Determine and communicate company impact of new regulations. Work with development of new products and determine feasibility for use in fleet applications
- Review OEM service bulletins related to Ruan equipment, including safety recalls and authorized field changes and prepare Ruan maintenance bulletins as needed
- Advise Regional Maintenance Managers with vehicle diagnostic techniques, best practice repair procedures and assist them with shop operation. Train shop and terminal personal on proper operation, maintenance and diagnostics of electronic technology on vehicles. Assist Regional Maintenance Managers perform Facility Compliance Reviews, revise and keep current the process guide, log progress of completed reviews
- Perform vehicle quality inspections at manufacturing plants and provide preformance report to manufacture and Ruan Maintenance Department.
- Work with suppliers on product issue resolution. Make field visits with suppliers to investigate and resolve.Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
Course(s) of Study: Business Management, Heavy duty Truck, Automotive, Heavy Equipment, Supply chain logistics
Experience: 6-9 Years
Type of Experience: Trucking Industry, Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanic diagnostics and repair, Shop Operation, procedure design and communication.
