This leadership position works on site in Saukville, WI
This position has overall responsibility for leading a large dedicated contract transportation operation and will be directly responsible for critical operational decisions impacting customer retention and operational performance as well as team member development and performance. This position has direct p/l accountability and is responsible for developing and implementing key performance metrics and measuring, monitoring and enhancing operational performance and customer satisfaction through their effective use.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising, rewarding, developing, and succession planning.
- Direct and drive operational efficiencies that achieve operational and financial performance expectations. Develop, communicate and monitor Key Performance Indicators for the account and implement action plans to improve performance. Analyze operational data to determine trends and initiate action to positively impact cost factors and financial performance.
- Build a strong partnership with customer(s) through regular and professional communication, problem solving and relationship building. Continually assess service performance levels and take timely action to remove performance barriers.
- Promote and monitor employee safety and take proactive steps to create a positive safety culture. Partner with customer, internal and external resources as necessary to identify, evaluate and remove safety obstacles. Ensure compliance with safety programs and protocols as well as federal, state and local regulations.
- Continually investigate, introduce and support continuous improvement efforts. Ensure effective and efficient workflow and communications processes are in place.
- Build and maintain a positive work environment where team members and their contributions are recognized and valued. Maintain frequent communication with all team members.
- In union environments, develop professional working relationships with key union representatives so that collective bargaining related issues are efficiently and effectively resolved.
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 6-9 years of experience in transportation leadership role required. Minimum of 4 years experience supervising and leading a transportation team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team strongly desired.
- Candidates must have strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement continuous improvement processes.
- Experience conducting business using multiple software systems and processes.
- Strong skill base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and routing or dispatching systems.
