What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Operations - Managed Transportation position at Ruan Transportation Management Systems?
Responsible for the management, leadership and oversight of regional terminals to ensure operational and financial goals are achieved. This includes Terminal Management, Dispatch, Maintenance and Drivers. Responsible to develop and maintain outstanding relationships with our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising, rewarding, developing, and succession planning. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and aplicable laws.
- Develop and implement organizational strategy to achieve operational and financial performance expectations. Work with Senior Leadership in the development and implementation of annual business plan that provides clear direction for personnel in the achievement of established goals.
- Responsible for the financial performance of assigned region. Identify and implement revenue and cost savings efficiencies.
- Work with Terminal Managers in the completion of an annual operating budget, which provides the expenditures necessary to support our staff in the delivery of outstanding customer service while achieving our targeted return on investment.
- Build and develop business relationships with both internal and external customers. Ensure quality service and value are being provided. Continually assess service acceptance in the marketplace and make the required decisions/changes that ensure value based on the changing needs and demands of our customers.
- Develop and maintain training programs and measure their effectiveness in preparing staff to perform assigned job responsibilities. Identify and develop an individual as a successor who could assume the responsibilities of this role.
- Direct and monitor continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in Transportation Logistics, Marketing, or related field of study.
Experience: 10 years industry and management experience

Must have proven innovation and problem solving skills. Must have excellent written and oral presentation skills. Needs ability to set priorities and accomplish tasks. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to listen, understand, and respond to external and internal customers' needs in a timely manner. Ability to work the time necessary to complete projects or meet deadlines. Must have a working knowledge of MS Office products.
