Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to join our team. As a Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to lawn care, pest control, and farm maintenance. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
· Prepares recipes, solutions, and equipment in a safe manner to provide appropriate fertilizer application rates for proper crop development
· Mixes and sprays or spreads fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto crops using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders and chemigation units
· Fills sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas
· Installs liquid fertilizer equipment at pivot centers, calculates and calibrates required amounts per field
· Administers correct handling, transporting, storage and disposal procedures for chemicals used in a safe manner
· Services and maintains fertilizer pumps and equipment for optimal operation and performance.
· Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
· Lifts, pushes, and swings nozzles, hoses, and tubes in order to direct spray over designated areas
· Covers areas to specified depths with pesticides, applying knowledge of weather conditions, droplet sizes, elevation-to-distance ratios, and obstructions
· Starts motors and engages machinery, such as sprayer agitators and pumps or portable spray equipment
· Connects hoses and nozzles selected according to terrain, distribution pattern requirements, types of infestations, and velocities
· Cleans and services machinery to ensure operating efficiency, using water, gasoline, lubricants, and/or hand tools
· Maintains current MSDS information and product labels on chemicals used
Responsibilities:
· Works collaboratively, cooperatively, and in coordination with fellow team members and with others in the organization and outside of the company
· Maintains regular, dependable attendance and punctuality, and physical presence at the assigned worksite
· Complies with all applicable environmental health and safety policies, procedures and work rules, giving maximum effort to performing job functions in a manner that protects the health and safety of the incumbent, co-workers, and the general public
· Performs other duties as assigned and which are deemed necessary or desirable by NAPI
Requirements:
· High School Diploma, GED, or High School Equivalence, preferred
· Some functions require certifications and training which will be provided by NAPI
· Vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an Associate’s degree highly preferred.
· College course work in Mathematics, chemistry, biology, or related science field.
· Two or more years of experience utilizing fertigation and chemigation practices.
· Education/training can be substituted for previous work experience.
· Bi-lingual (English/Spanish), preferred
· Applicant must have his/her own tools.
· MUST have a current driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $31.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
