RubinBrown’s Internal Accounting Department is looking for a General Accountant to join our growing team. The General Accountant will own various functional accounting areas and gain exposure to ad hoc initiatives and projects. This position will be involved with both the operational and financial aspects of our organization. The ideal candidate wants to expand on their current experience, enjoys both tactical and analytical work, and is looking to join a positive, supportive, experienced team at a growing company. The ideal candidate will be adept in financial processes, including general ledger, billing, collections, payables and account reconciliation, with a solid foundation in general accounting principles. This position requires a proactive individual who possesses keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Analyze financial transactions for the monthly financial close.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure its accuracy.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to management.
- Bank and Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
- Reconcile subsidiary accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Fixed Assets:
- Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure accurate classification and coding of assets in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Ensure fixed asset records align with GAAP and Tax for depreciation and personal property tax reporting.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows.
- Support other accounting functions as needed.
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills
- Proven experience in a position with similar duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strict adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Ability to use accounting information systems, Excel and other supporting software; comfortable with technology.
- Experience with Great Plains or BNA Fixed Assets a plus
Working Conditions
- Typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Must be able to work extra hours as determined by the workload and expectations.
- Must be available for on-call coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, and others.
