Position Summary:

Ruby’s Home Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Alternate Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team. The ADON will assist the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing clinical operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting our nursing staff in delivering high-quality home health care. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and clinical skills, as well as a passion for patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will have experience in home health, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance:

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the nursing department to ensure compliance with state, federal, and company regulations.
  • Monitor patient care plans, ensuring they align with best practices and individualized patient needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Staff Supervision & Development:

  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to nursing staff to maintain high standards of care.
  • Support staff in handling complex patient cases and troubleshooting clinical issues.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for nursing personnel.

Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including Medicare and state home health regulations.
  • Conduct audits of patient charts and nursing documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in policy development and implementation to improve nursing practices and ensure consistency in care.

Patient & Family Engagement:

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the care team to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding home health care, disease management, and post-hospitalization recovery.
  • Participate in case conferences to review and adjust patient care plans as needed.

Operational Support:

  • Step in for the Director of Nursing when necessary, ensuring seamless continuity of care and operations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, social workers, and administrative staff, to coordinate patient care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new programs and services to enhance home health care delivery.
Qualifications:

Education & Licensure:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an active Texas license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of home health experience required.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare home health regulations, OASIS documentation, and compliance standards.

Certifications & Training:

  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Additional certifications in home health care management or wound care preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
  • Hours: PRN (as needed), with flexible scheduling based on patient needs.
  • Environment: Office and fieldwork, including patient home visits and staff supervision.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to travel within Houston and surrounding areas. May require lifting and assisting patients as needed.
Compensation:
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits may be available depending on employment status and duration of service.
