Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and wrap around services. What qualifications are required for this position?
You Are Also:
- Preferred Spanish speaking.
- Prior experience as a medical assistant.
- Certified Nursing Assistant experience is preferred but not required.
- In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by RP insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue. Instances where staff cannot be approved to drive will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if employment can continue in their role without driving agency vehicles. Items considered include but are not limited to: the shift the staff member holds and the frequency/necessity of driving during that shift, the amount of time before the staff member may be approved to drive by the insurance carrier, the availability of other staff on site to drive agency vehicles as program needs require, etc.
- Able to complete all required background checks. Additional requirements may be deemed necessary, including fingerprinting (Live Scan), completion of all Community Care Licensing (CCL) documents, a suitability process through ORR and ability to meet CCL licensing requirements.
The anticipated start date for this position is spring 2025. This position is a hands-on position and will be an addition to the Office of Refugee and Resettlement program. In this role, you will assist and work closely with the nurse practitioner providing trauma-informed care to the youth that we serve.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Meet with patients to take history and to check and record vital signs
- Ensure Nurse Practitioner has needed supplies, instruments and equipment
- Sterilize/clean equipment
- Set up treatment rooms
- Ensure treatment rooms are maintained in a clean and orderly manners
- Assist Nurse Practitioner in providing treatment
- Schedule medical and follow-up appointments with PCPs, vaccines or specialists, and eye exams
- Ensure all required documents are in both electronic and physical medical files
- Upload medical documents to the UC portal
- Transport clients to medical appointments, if needed
- Audit files for compliance, such as MARs for medication administration/documentation
- Cover some of the nurse practitioner’s tasks (as appropriate) when they are out
- Request TAR's (Treatment Authorization Request) before appointments for payment approval through PCU (Point Care Underwriters), who is the insurance provider for ORR clients
- Will be available to provide medical chaperone support upon request from a youth.
This role is 100% in person and is not eligible for hybrid work. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress.
Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, salaried position. This is a hybrid position (flex work), with some days required in our Castro Valley Office. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.
