Job Summary
We are seeking a bilingual (english & spanish) dedicated and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of our fleet, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service.
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Fleet Manager ensures seamless operation and maintenance of company’s vehicles, trailers, equipment, and small tools. He/she is responsible for managing the mechanics team, coordinating maintenance and repairs, managing fuel, handling auto related accidents and insurance claims, watching driver behavior. The key part of the role is to ensure that all trucks, trailers, machinery, and small tools, are in optimal working condition to ensure operations are not interrupted.
In addition, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for reviewing inspections, investigating any incidents, and taking appropriate corrective actions. He/she will install GPS units on all company vehicles and equipment. He or she will also be responsible for coordinating with the operation managers team, foreman, mechanics, and any other related vendor related to trucks, trailers, equipment, and small tools.
Furthermore, the responsibilities include managing the purchasing and inventory control of small tools and equipment, marking them with identification numbers, adding them into the tool management software (Sharemytoolbox), and assigning them to foremen or any other borrowers.
He/She is required to exemplify and embody the purpose, vision, core values, and leadership standards of R&M Construction, and play a key role in consistently applying and promoting these principles throughout the organization and in daily interactions with others.
Requirements
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably within the construction or similar heavy equipment industry.
· Proven track record of managing vehicle and equipment maintenance, repairs, and logistics.
· Proficiency in fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio, Fleetcomplete, Sharemytoolbox) and GPS tracking systems.
· Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
· Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to fleet operations and safety standards.
· Experience with budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting.
· Ability to analyze financial data and develop cost-saving strategies.
· Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with drivers, maintenance teams, vendors, and management.
· Ability to clearly convey instructions and feedback to drivers and operators.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues, accidents, and logistical challenges.
· Ability to make quick and effective decisions in emergency situations.
