This position is for an experienced Mechanical Engineer licensed in the State of Wisconsin (or with the ability to be licensed in the State of Wisconsin within 1-2 months.) This position will serve as a local mechanical group lead and will report to the Mechanical Discipline Lead located in Iowa City, IA.
Our Mechanical group operates as both a standalone design team - performing ‘one-off’ mechanical design projects or paired with the Electrical/Technology group – creating MEPT (mechanical-electrical-plumbing-technology) documents. The MEPT group partners with the Structural group to form the overall Building Services Team which works with the commercial Civil group to complete full-service engineering designs.
The Madison Mechanical Group will work to complete mechanical designs along with the Iowa City group, and will also be the primary go-to for Wisconsin-based work as the team develops. This work encompasses a large variety of types including commercial, non-profit, educational, senior-housing, multi-family, mixed-use, municipal, institutional, industrial, and more. The Mechanical Discipline Lead will provide oversight and guidance to the team and will be the direct report for this position. Prior experience in managing mechanical designs, client project management, Revit drafting, commercial HVAC design software (Trane/Carrier), specification development, supplier integration, property analyses, and construction document creation and quality control are all a significant plus. Candidates should highlight their experience in these areas as necessary.
In this role you will work with other disciplines – electrical, structural, and civil – to complete wholistic designs that comprise full-service efforts when paired with architectural partners or subcontractors. Daily external collaboration with these partners will be required as well as daily internal collaboration with in-house teams. This is done both in person and virtually. Formal and informal design meetings, page-turns, BIM model integration, and construction site visits will all be parts of the job. You will also work closely with clients to provide fully integrated full service engineering designs and plan sets. In the case of Mechanical-only projects, you will be expected to project manage certain efforts.

Daily priorities will be a mix of tasks including local group management, office-based design, meetings, site visits, and architect and contractor coordination. Candidate will continue to provide the incredible service we are known for. Will frequently work with other in-house engineering services in addition to their own. Candidate will work frequently within Autodesk Revit and candidates must be well-versed in this software. Bluebeam software knowledge and workflows are also incredibly important and will be part of daily work. Candidate should have their PE licensure in Wisconsin or the ability to obtain within a maximum of 60-days.

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
Licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin (or state with reciprocity)
