The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about professional development and will work closely with project managers, team leaders, and clients to deliver surveying services. This position will primarily be office-based, with occasional fieldwork required, as it relates to leadership growth or project needs.
Goals and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with project managers and clients on survey-related projects.
- Prepare survey documents such as plats of survey, certified survey maps (CSMs), legal descriptions, ALTA/ACSM surveys, and easements.
- Conduct deed and legal description research, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Perform quality control (QA/QC) reviews of work completed by surveying staff, ensuring all deliverables meet high standards.
- Assist with project oversight, including estimating, scoping, and billing, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Coordinate construction staking and layout for various project types.
- Collect general property information, historical land use details, plats, as-builts, boring logs, and other necessary documents to support surveying and design efforts.
- Conduct site visits and general data collection to support design and construction efforts.
- Assist with the preparation of field reports and existing condition reports.
- Perform right-of-way plating, including research, control establishment, base map preparation, computing existing R/W, parcel lines, easements, and drafting descriptions for land acquisition purposes.
- Collaborate with civil engineering teams to integrate survey data into project designs, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
- Perform fieldwork in various weather conditions while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or a related field.
- Wisconsin Registered Land Surveyor (RLS, PLS) license or eligibility to take the WI exam.
- 2 – 5 years of experience as a PLS, with strong familiarity in topographic and construction surveying, boundary and control surveying, ALTA/ACSM surveys, right-of-way plats, and subdivision plats.
- Proficiency with Trimble GPS and Total Station Systems, with a solid understanding of surveying equipment required for the tasks at hand.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and ideally Trimble Business Center.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and quality control.
- Willingness to learn and help train others on new surveying technologies and equipment.
- Ability to work in a team setting and complete assigned tasks efficiently, while maintaining safety during field operations.
