Position Overview:
Join our dedicated team at Ruff Resort as an Overnight Dog Resort Attendant! In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and well-being of our furry guests throughout the night. Your role will involve managing daily cleaning duties, providing compassionate care for pets, and maintaining a safe and secure environment. We're looking for a self-motivated, task-oriented individual who thrives in a physically demanding and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Cleanliness and Maintenance (90%)
- Clean and sanitize key areas of the facility, including three bathrooms, kitchen, breakroom, lobby, and play areas.
- Sweep and mop floors across the building, ensuring all areas (lobby, hallways, kitchen, bathrooms, grooming areas, etc.) are spotless.
- Launder towels, bedding, and pet-related items using washing machines and dryers throughout the night.
- Clean, sanitize, and disinfect all pet bedding, bowls, toys, and other pet-related items.
- Remove trash from all areas and dispose of it in the dumpster at the end of each shift.
- Deep clean potty yards and potty trays at the end of the shift, ensuring they are fully prepared for the next day.
- Replace cleaning station supplies and ensure machines are stocked and ready for the next shift.
- Handle and store cleaning chemicals properly, following safety protocols and using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, ear protection, and aprons.
Pet Care and Well-Being (10%)
- Provide compassionate overnight care for boarding and daycare pets, ensuring they have access to clean water and a comfortable environment.
- Monitor pets for signs of distress, illness, or injury and take appropriate action if needed.
- Perform routine health checks on pets, including checking for abnormal behavior such as vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy.
- Document any concerns in the communication book and report abnormal findings to the manager.
- Prepare pet bowls for morning feedings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and manage up to 50 pounds, with assistance available for heavier loads.
- Physical stamina to bend, stoop, walk, stand, and perform cleaning duties for extended periods, up to 8 hours at a time.
- Comfort with working in a busy, noisy environment with sounds from both animals and equipment.
- Use proper safety precautions when working with cleaning chemicals and handling animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (or actively pursuing).
- Experience in animal care or a related field, with knowledge of proper pet handling and restraint techniques.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and task-oriented work ethic.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
- Basic math skills for tasks such as measuring cleaning supplies or calculating pet feeding amounts.

Applicants must have a minimum of 6 months of prior experience working in a veterinary clinic, animal boarding facility, or animal shelter. Applications without relevant experience will not be considered.
