What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Rug Doctor, LLC?
Overview
The Material Handler is responsible for pulling and putting away materials and properly documenting transactions. The Material Handler will also keep designated areas of warehouse clean and organized. This individual will also be responsible for supplying needed materials to production area(s) on regular basis. Additionally, this individual will participate in cycle counts and provide support and act as back up to Pack-out Department. Contribute to building a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supply needed materials for the production area(s)
- Properly pull and put away material and document transactions
- Verify quantities of items being put away against receiving documentation
- Operate forklift and pallet jack
- Assist and participate in inventory cycle counts
- Assist and act as backup for Pack-out Department
- Actively participate in team goal setting/implementation
- Strive to maximize the efficiency of the plant/department by submitting and implementing process improvements
- Actively participate in team safety efforts to achieve/exceed plant goals
- Required to perform all duties safely & use discretion to prevent injuries to self and/or others
- Must be willing and able to demonstrate planning/organizational skills and behavior, which will contribute to the overall team effectiveness
- Able to work well within a team environment as well as work effectively with all associates
- Demonstrate leadership ability, positive attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A working knowledge of safety guidelines and problem-solving abilities are a must
- Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
- Knowledge of JDE business software is ideal
- Must be detail oriented with good basic mathematical aptitude, as much of the work requires thoroughness and accuracy
- Ability to work well in a high-pressure, team environment
- The ability to learn quickly along with good memory retention is highly desirable
- Essential is the ability to arrive at sound conclusions upon consideration of facts and alternatives (effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement)
- Overtime as required
