The Visual Merchandiser is responsible for designing and executing visually-appealing, well-balanced store merchandise displays under the direction of the Regional Visual Manager. This involves remerchandising displays, signage, point-of-sale and other areas to maximize product sell through, completing showroom recovery processes, and managing incoming merchandise receipt and new product placement to ensure an exceptional store experience for every guest. This must be an individual with a high level of experience designing and creating beautiful visuals with home furnishings.
The Visual Merchandiser is accountable for implementing a visual merchandising strategy that aids in the achievement of Rug & Home Raleigh sales volume and financial objectives.
Overall, the Visual Merchandiser contributes to the R&H high performance culture by modeling our core values and engaging in sales activities that keep the R&H brand as the #1 home furnishings market leader in style, selection, quality and value.
Primary Job Functions
Executes visually-appealing, well-balanced store merchandise displays under the direction of the President, VP, COO, General Manager, Assistant Manager, and Furniture Buyer. Coordinates layout plans for furniture, lighting and accessories. Transitions seasonal products.
Remerchandises displays, signage, point-of-sale and select areas regularly to maximize product sell through. Executes floor moves or any other necessary changes consistent with the layout plan and product focus. Communicates regularly with the Furniture & Accessory Buyers on what has sold.
Completes store recovery processes throughout the day. Maintains store interior and exterior appearance with the assistance of the Warehouse and Housekeeping Associates. Initiates repair and maintenance of store lighting, fixtures, paint, flooring, etc.
Adheres to all visual merchandising standards and bulletins provided by the Buying Dept. Ensures audio/visual (e.g., store music, sign height, etc.) is in compliance with the standards. Communicates standards to store associates and involves associates in the visual maintenance of the store.
Participates actively in meetings and coaching sessions with managers and trainers.
Develops high levels of knowledge on all R&H products, promotions and store functions. Keeps up to date on fashion styles and trends.
Assists customers during the sales process with a personal sales goal set every month.
Demonstrates the company’s core and growth values in performance of all job functions.
Secondary Job Functions
Learns the furniture retail industry as a whole to establish a strong understanding of R&H's products and their positioning in the marketplace, as well as the processes and procedures in how the business is operated.
Picks up projects on the fly; performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
Schedule Expectations
The incumbent will work approximately 8 hours per week. Hours will increase during specific events, holidays or blackout periods, or to meet other business needs.
Regular attendance at the assigned store in accordance with these expectations is an essential function of the job and all job functions are performed at the designated job location. May occasionally travel to other locations for meetings or training or possibly visuals when needed in other R&H locations.
Job Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s degree in retail management, visual merchandising, graphic design or related field required; Bachelor’s preferred.
Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Experience:
One to two years of experience in visual merchandising or design in the furniture and home decor field preferred
Licenses or Certifications:
None
Knowledge, Skills:
Knowledge of basic interior design.
Knowledge of basic visual merchandising and space planning.
Knowledge of fashion styles and trends.
Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Exceptional detail-oriented, time management and organizational skills, with ability to multitask and meet demanding deadlines.
Good communication skills.
Good computer and office software skills, including Microsoft Office.
