Electronics Technician Responsibilities:
Rugged Science is currently hiring a Computer Electronics Technician at our Sparks, MD facility. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team, specializing in troubleshooting and repairing board-level issues, building and configuring custom computer systems, and ensuring the quality and functionality of our industrial and military products. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving product failures, developing and testing custom software images for Windows and Linux, and collaborating closely with our Sales Department to meet customer configuration and specification needs. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the development and maintenance of standard testing procedures and participate in qualification testing for new military products. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot board-level issues to determine the root cause of product failure.
- Repair defective units in accordance with IPC standards.
- Utilize client management tools for diagnostic troubleshooting to quickly address customer requests remotely.
- Build and configure new computer systems.
- Develop custom images per customer and product requirements (Windows and Linux).
- Work closely with the Sales Department to answer configuration and specification questions for new customer products.
- Complete functionality testing of industrial and military products.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard test procedures for all Rugged Science products.
- Assist with Qualification Testing for new military products.
Experience and Education:
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or similar major (preferred).
- 5 years working experience in the computer industry.
- 2 years experience troubleshooting and repairing board-level issues.
- Strong understanding of Linux and Windows required.
- Experience with and knowledge of electronics and test & measurement equipment.
- Able and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a close-knit team.
- IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721 certification.
- Willingness to work overtime or travel if required.
