Cheerleading Coach at Ruidoso Middle School

Position Overview:

Ruidoso Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Cheer Coach to lead our middle school cheer program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with middle school-aged students and a strong understanding of cheerleading fundamentals, teamwork, and leadership. This position offers the opportunity to positively impact students’ lives, promote school spirit, and encourage athletic excellence.

Qualifications:

• Previous cheerleading coaching or experience in cheerleading (preferably at the middle or high school level).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, stunts, and safety protocols.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students while maintaining a positive and disciplined environment.
• First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before starting the position).
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for practices and events
• Suburban certified, or willing to complete district certification

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead cheerleading practices, including stunts, routines, and formations in concert with the Ruidoso High School Head Cheer Coach.
• Foster a positive, encouraging environment for students to develop cheerleading skills and personal growth.
• Attend and support athletic events, including football and basketball games, pep rallies, and other school activities.
• Ensure the safety of all participants by following safety protocols and supervising cheerleading activities at all times.
• Collaborate with school administrators, parents, and other coaches to build a supportive and unified school spirit program.
• Assist with organizing and promoting cheerleading events, fundraisers, and competitions as needed.
• Maintain open communication with athletes and their families about practice schedules, upcoming events, and any other necessary information.
• Ensure that cheerleaders have the necessary equipment and uniforms.

a. Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds;

b. Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion;

d. Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading;

e. Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, inclement weather;

f. Sitting, walking, standing are a regular requirement;

g. Flexibility of bending and twisting at the neck and truck are a regular requirement;

h. Occasional travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students may be required.
