This individual contributor is an integral part of the Ingredient Category team. This Team Member works closely with Suppliers, Commercial, Scheduling, Regulatory, Transportation, Warehousing, Quality, and Operations to ensure that ingredients are available to support manufacturing operations. Ingredients include non-commodity materials such as beans, spices, starch, vegetables, fruit, rice, and preservatives.
This position reports to the Ingredient Procurement Category Leader.
COMPENSATION: $70 - $80K/Year DOE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage >$125M in commodity spend across four manufacturing plants in the United States. SKU count is > 50 items.
- Lives the company’s mission, vision, and values while meeting the responsibilities of the position.
- Uses formal systems and process to analyze production demand, place material orders, schedule deliveries, monitor shelf life, and manage on-hand and off-site inventories.
- Actions are taken in direct support of company goals for schedule adherence, obsolete write-off, purchase price variance, on-time & in full deliveries, cash flow, and warehouse space utilization.
- Ensure resolution on material quality issues. Escalate where appropriate.
- Work with Commercial, Regulatory, Operations, and other Procurement stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of raw material changes while minimizing obsolete material expense.
- Apply best practices to optimize the order planning, buying, shelf life, and inventory management of assigned materials.
- Manages key master data for SKU’s including lead time, order quantity, safety stock, shelf life, and price.
- Provide back-up coverage for other Planner/Buyers.
- Other duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a consumer goods company, ideally food or beverage.
- Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school in a Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain or other Business-related field. In lieu of Associates degree, will consider five years of experience. Professional certifications ideal.
- Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
- Problem solver with results orientation. Strong attention to detail.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to balance multiple priorities.
- Initiative-taker. Challenges the status quo. Confident identifying improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise using Microsoft Office and ERP applications. Experience with Infor’s M3 is ideal.
- Able to travel up to 15%, mostly domestic.
