Overview:
The Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the Claims Estimators, ensuring efficient and accurate claims estimating, and maintaining high-quality standards in job documentation, communication, and execution. This leadership role requires strong industry expertise, team management skills, and the ability to collaborate with insurance carriers, adjusters, and internal departments. The Claims Manager will drive the estimating team’s performance, ensure compliance with company and industry standards, and provide training and support to enhance efficiency and accuracy. This position reports directly to the Director of Claims.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead and manage the Claims Estimating team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed and accurate estimates in Xactimate, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Monitor and review all estimates to confirm accuracy, completeness, and adherence to margin goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations regarding insurance negotiations and claims disputes.
- Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, adjusters, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth claims processing.
- Ensure claims estimators adhere to company processes, documentation requirements, and project management systems, such as XactAnalysis, Moisture Mapper, and MICA.
- Review, analyze, and validate field documentation, including scope reports, sketches, and photographs.
- Train and develop Claims Estimators to improve their proficiency in estimating software, negotiation tactics, and damage assessment techniques.
- Establish and track KPIs to measure Claims Estimator performance and efficiency.
- Work closely with the Reconstruction and Mitigation teams to ensure smooth project transitions and seamless communication between departments.
- Implement process improvements to streamline estimating workflows and improve claims handling efficiency.
- Ensure the Claims Estimating team remains up to date with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices through continuous education and training.
Support business development efforts by maintaining a professional reputation and fostering positive relationships with clients and insurance partners.
Qualifications and Skills:
Prior experience in estimating and claims management within the restoration and/or construction industry.
- IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, FRST, or AMRT) preferred.
- Extensive experience in Xactimate and XactAnalysis; familiarity with other estimating software is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage a team.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively with insurance carriers and adjusters.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance claims processes, including compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents and terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-centric approach.
- Willingness to stay current with industry trends, certifications, and best practices.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
