Summary:
The Equipment Maintenance Technician role requires a strong technical background, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship. This role will handle emergency repairs, diagnose technical issues, and provide proactive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime. The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all production equipment across various departments.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on all assigned equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical issues
- Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to understand equipment functions
- Ensure proper documentation of all repairs and maintenance for future reference
- Order parts via requisitions and maintain accurate inventory records of purchased parts
- Oversee contractors performing professional repairs when necessary
- Coordinate repair schedules with production management to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Ensure proper communication with the team regarding the status of repairs and maintenance
- Work irregular shifts (on Call) depending on the season and scheduling
- Schedule maintenance time through the Director of Operations and/or an Operations Manager designated by the Director
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Equipment Scope (includes but is not limited to):
Press Department:
- HPs 1, 2 & 3, Finishing Lines (2), Tecnau (1), Paper Evacuation System (3), and connectivity to 3rd party compactor system (3)
Cross-Departmental Training:
- Participate in training across various departments such as the Bindery, Envelope Convertors, Mailing Departments-Inserting/Sorting equipment to build a versatile skill set throughout our equipment.
Requirements
Key Requirements:
- HP Training/Certification preferred
- EMT Repair and Maintenance Training/Certification preferred
- Tecnau Repair and Maintenance Training/Certification preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision
- Experience in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and production equipment
- Ability to work irregular shifts and be on call as needed, based on seasonal demands
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively while respecting individual work boundaries
- Maintain a constant Professional demeanor with all internal employees and external vendors
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with heavy machinery
- Track and report on opportunities for improvement and success
- Listening effectively when others are speaking
- Credible, responsive team-player
- Ability to perform and retain various skill-related tasks, training, and operations
- 18 years of age (minimum)
