Runk & Pratt Senior Living Communities at Smith Mountain Lake is looking for a motivated and dedicated Activities Assistant to join their team!

Hourly Non-Exempt, Part Time, 20 hours a week
REPORTS TO: Activities Director and/or Life Enrichment Director
OBJECTIVE: The Activities Assistant provides assistance to the Activities/Life Enrichment Director and other staff members in the daily planning and implementation of the Activities Department. The Activities Assistant will provide quality services to residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice and individuality as illustrated in Essential Functions. Displays a positive attitude and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in the completion of activities assessment, progress notes and updates in a timely manner as directed by Director
- Assists in planning, conducting and evaluating scheduled activities to meet needs of residents
- Communicates the daily schedule of activities programming to residents and support staff
- Documents resident participation and response to activity programs
- Provides input and feedback to Activities Director/Life Enrichment Director regarding resident progress and program effectiveness
- Assists, as directed, in planning and implementing special events and projects
- Arranges environment and set up of equipment. Ensures equipment is returned to proper place
- Assists in transporting residents, in a safe and appropriate manner, to and from activities
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or other appropriate management
- Attendance is required during inclement weather
- Dress must be neat and clean, closed toe shoes are required
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be able to perform duties in accordance with the guidelines mandated by Social Services as the licensing agent of this facility
- Be of acceptable physical and mental health to carry out assigned duties
- Must possess mature judgment skills and be able to respond to emergency situations
- Provides support in any area that may arise that is above and beyond the normal expectations for this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. without limitations using proper body mechanics
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Able to position self to assist residents with their needs
- Able to pull, push wheelchairs, kneel, transfer residents and other physical movements to meet physical needs of residents in a fast paced environment
- Able to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Complete annual in-service training as required
- State Police background check that is free from barrier offenses
- A current Tuberculosis test on or within 7 days prior to the first day of employment and free from Tuberculosis
- The ability to meet Physical Requirements for Position
- The ability to pass a drug test
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
