Running Man Neighborhood is currently seeking a summer Head Coach for our 2025 season. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, motivated individual to lead and inspire our athletes. The Head Coach will play a key role in the development and success of our swim program, ensuring both individual and team growth.
Full Job Description:
The Running Man Manta Rays Head Swim Coach is responsible for overseeing all operations of the summer swim team, including the supervision of assistant and junior coaches, coordination of practice schedules, preparation for swim meets, management of social events, planning end of season banquet, and coordination of parent volunteer efforts. The competitive season runs from late May through late July. The Head Coach is dedicated to cultivating a positive, inclusive environment that emphasizes the development of strong interpersonal relationships, refinement of stroke techniques, and the creation of memorable summer experiences. The team typically consists of 60-100 swimmers, ages 4 to 18.
Criteria for the Position:
- Experience: A minimum of two years of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or competitive club level is required. Previous experience in managing a swim team is preferred.
- Qualifications: Lifeguard Certification, CPR, and First Aid is required. Ability and skill in carrying out water rescue methods.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with athletes, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques, strategies, and training regimens.
- Work Ethic: Ability to organize and plan practice schedules, meets, and team events. Strong administrative skills for managing team logistics and communication.
- Passion for the Sport: A passion for fostering an environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and a love for swimming.
- Age Requirement: Minimum age of 18 years old.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and conduct practice sessions for all swimmer levels.
- Organize, develop, and implement training programs for swimmers.
- Manage and supervise assistant coaches, junior coaches and volunteers.
- Attendance is required at all practices, swim meets, and other team events to include, but not limited to:
- GPSA Season Meets plus Time Trails
- 8 and Under Meet
- City Meet
- RMMR Banquet
- Provide clear and concise communication regularly to parents, athletes, and the broader community to ensure the team's success, cohesion, and sportsmanship.
- Organizes core duty lists and directs set up and breakdown of all swim practices and meets.
- Knowledge of swimming pool operations to include sanitation, maintenance, and safety.
License/Certification:
- CPR Certification (Preferred) (Required)
- First Aid Certification (Preferred) (Required)
- AED Certification (Preferred) (Required)
