Runnings has a career opportunity for a Distribution Center Manager in our newly acquired Kentland, IN location.
This position will report directly to the Director of Distribution & Logistics.
The Distribution Center Manager will oversee day-to-day operations for the Kentland Distribution Center, including staffing, organizing, and directing operations within the Distribution Center to effectively manage the receipt, storage, selection, packaging, loading, and shipping of products and internal transfers to retail store locations and distribution centers located in 4 states.
Job Requirements:
- Five or more years prior DC managerial experience, including the use of state-of-the-art technology.
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for receiving, storing, splitting, picking, and shipping operations of the D.C.
- Operating within an annual budget, controls costs through productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of storage space, and proper protection of stored materials.
- Recommends D.C. and material handling needs and replacement to the Director of Distribution and Supply Chain.
- Partner with transportation contractor and dispatchers to coordinate, identify, and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with stores and drivers.
- Responsible for enforcing Company policies of conduct and safety and initiating corrective action where necessary.
- Develops and implements company and department SOPs, tracks, meets/exceeds department KPIs to ensure continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation.
- Develops and maintains relationships with carriers and vendors to assure quality carrier service that delivers products to the stores in an effective, efficient, and economical manner.
- Manages the overall security and loss prevention processes at the D.C. Identifies the causes of product losses and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Responsible for the overall safety and welfare of the D.C. facility and staff by addressing both physical safety issues and creating a culture of safety awareness for the distribution center.
- Strong understanding and acceptance of responsibility for compliance of OSHA, and other state and federal laws and regulations.
- Partners with store personnel, merchants, buying staff, and district managers in effective utilization of D.C. resources. Ensures that the correct items are stocked, rotated, and distributed to our stores in the most efficient and cost-effective manner and that all D.C. activities are properly documented.
- Analyzes current procedures and new ideas to continuously improve productivity and efficiencies.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma concepts to eliminate waste and improve performance and workplace organization.
- Selects, develops, trains, and motivates D.C. staff.
- Coach, teach, and mentor subordinates through development plans and regularly scheduled performance discussions and annual performance reviews.
- Responsible for all grounds, building, and equipment maintenance.
- Work directly with the Director of Distribution and Supply Chain to effectively carry out all duties.
