Summer Behavioral Site Coordinator
About this Program:
Welcome to WonderKids, an exciting program by the Rural Arts Collaborative designed to help
children soar in creativity and emotional resilience! Our summer enrichment camp gives every
child the summer camp experience of their dreams, filled with laughter, exploration, and
imaginative activities using natural materials. Campers are onsite from 8:30-3:00 each day, with
staff working on both sides of that timeframe to prepare and clean up. WonderKids serves kids in
grades K-6, Monday through Friday for 5 weeks in July and August. Camp training begins in June.
At WonderKids, kids get to be kids! Our warm and nurturing environment is staffed by caring
adults who support emotional growth and foster collaboration among young campers.
WonderKids has two main components—an afterschool program during the academic year and a
Summer Enrichment Program in July and part of August—WonderKids is all about creativity and
fun. We would like to work with qualified, enthusiastic employees who want full-time summer
employment, as well as energetic, passionate people who are looking for year-round, part-time
employment in both the Afterschool and Summer programs.
Position Description
The Behavioral Site Coordinator will collaborate with the WonderKids Regional Management
Team and the WonderKids Administrative, Health and Safety, and Enrichment Coordinators to
ensure that staff understand and are able to provide the necessary behavioral supports so that all
children in the program may be successful.
Responsibilities:
- Behavior Management: Collaborate with the Behavior Manager to develop site-specific
- Staff Training: Train site staff to address and support students’ needs.
- Communication: Ensure consistent communication with all parties to implement behavior
- On-Site Support: Provide hands-on assistance with behavior management while present
- Collaboration: Work with Site Administrative, Health and Safety, and Enrichment
Coordinators through collaboration, communication, delegation, and instruction.
Duties:
- Registration Preparation: Review registration information and prepare informational
- Observation and Support: Conduct on-site observations to support both staff and
- System Implementation: Implement and enhance support systems through observation
and feedback in collaboration with the Enrichment Manager.
- Program Support: Assist teaching artists and campers to encourage engagement in
- Planning: Collaborate with OSSU and Regional Management to plan support system
- Family Communication: Communicate with families regarding behavior and support
- Evaluation Participation: Engage in job and program evaluation processes.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Helping children manage their feelings.
- Managing various behaviors in children.
- Helping children self-regulate and succeed in programs.
- Education: Five years of experience working with elementary-aged children is a plus, not
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of child development and appropriate support systems.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and execute a vision while following instructions.
- Reliability: Strong ability to meet deadlines and predetermined arrival times, along with
- Environment Management: Capability to manage a high-energy, multifaceted
- Detail Oriented: Attention to detail with the ability to handle paperwork and
Estimated Hours Per Week:
Summer enrichment: up to 40 hours per week, based on a five day week
Must be able to:
- Lift program totes up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to perform extensive standing and walking for 3 hours at a time
- Carry heavier loads up to 20 lbs longer distances (from a classroom or storage area to a
- Must be able to set up pop up tents, folding tables, and move folding chairs and other
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach materials
- Must be able to play with children outdoors, hike, and remain physically active for 3 hours
at a time in all weather conditions
