The Program Specialist plays a crucial role in planning, implementing, and managing various projects within the Technical Assistance & Services Center (TASC) and Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP). This position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in rural health and contribute to The Center's success.
The Program Specialist is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package. This professional position requires outstanding organizational and communication skills. The Program Specialist should have at least four years of experience in health care, public health, business or public administration, research, or a related area. Knowledge of rural health issues, hospital, health system development, or quality improvement is desired. In addition, they should have experience working in a team environment and be capable of independent decision-making. Effective written and oral communication skills are required including presentation and facilitation. Excellent relationship-building skills are necessary. Experience preferred with working remotely and with Microsoft Office Teams, Zoom Meetings, or similar platforms.
The Program Specialist should have at least four years of experience in health care management.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide education and information (technical assistance) to rural stakeholders on a wide variety of topics by email, phone, remote presentation technology, and face to face
- Deliver educational presentations and trainings to customers
- Assist program manager in coordination of technical assistance services to ensure a productive, responsive, and efficient team environment
- Develop and promote resources and tools
- Assist program director in managing consultant projects
- Design and conduct assessments to determine needs, knowledge gain, and application of knowledge to improve performance
- Identify and collect best practices or spotlights in rural health appropriate topics, create resources, and track key findings
- Provide program report updates and assist with coordination and completion of regular reporting requirements (including evaluation and information tracking processes)
- Assist with preparation of grant proposals and regular reporting requirements
- Participate in The Center team meetings as well as conference and workshops as appropriate.
