Position Summary: The Manager of Spiritual Care is responsible for the provision of spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, medical staff, hospital staff, and hospital leadership. This position provides direct care and manages, supervises, and coordinates the delivery of spiritual and emotional supportive care by the Staff Chaplain, Contract On-Call Chaplain Staff, and Spiritual Care and Eucharistic Ministry Volunteer Staff. This Manager serves on the hospital’s Medical Ethics Committee and is a liaison to religious communities in the hospital’s service area. This position models the Rush Copley Medical Center mission, vision and values and ensures that operations result in high quality, team oriented, patient-focused, and cost-effective services. This position acts in accordance with Rush Copley Medical Center policies and procedures and holds others accountable for meeting regulatory and best practice standards.

Position Requirements
- Education: Earned undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university and a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from an accredited theological seminary or divinity school. Minimum four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from a center accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
- Certification: Board Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. Member in good standing in one’s endorsing denomination or faith group.
- Special Skills: Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication, problem solving, autonomy, and decision-making skills. High level of analytical ability and the skill to work in complex clinical or hospital systems required. Proficient with computer systems including the electronic medical record and applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience as a hospital chaplain and expertise with Illinois advance directives and medical ethics. Prefer previous leadership experience and membership or leadership on a hospital medical ethics committee.
