What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Service Representative / RCMG position at Rush-Copley Medical Center?
Position Summary
Practice patient service representative proactively ensures an exceptional experience for patients when greeting, checking in, and checking out during their appointment; answers incoming phone calls, responds to general patient requests, takes telephone messages and schedules patient appointments. Verifies insurance information and ensures appointments are scheduled properly.
This position is for 30 hours per week. The office is open 7 : 45 am - 7 : 15 pm Tues-Thurs, 7 : 45 am - 5 pm Mondays & Fridays, and 7 : 45 am - noon on Saturdays. This position has some flexibility in scheduling - may be 4 days per week or 5 shorter days. Requires one shift until 7 : 15 pm each week and a Saturday morning every 3 weeks.

Position Requirements
Education and Previous Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
Hardware / Software Experience
Practice management / medical billing computer programs.
Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel)
Other Characteristics
Excellent oral / written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Detailed oriented
Ability to set priorities, document conversations and specific actions taken and develop applicable policies and procedures (e.g., regarding collections)
Flexible; able to adapt to change
Bilingual (Spanish) abilities are highly valued.
