JOB SUMMARY

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the pre-hospital, emergency department and patient transfer settings. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility with a minimum of supervision. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

Demonstrates ability to complete applicable competencies

Demonstrates ability to give and follow instructions accurately

Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various health care personnel, law enforcement, fire personnel and bystanders

Must possess and maintain a valid Operator’s License from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles with a clean driving record

Knowledge-

Basic Emergency Medical Technician curriculum and contents

Education-
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Must have successfully completed an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program

Must hold certification from the Indiana State Emergency Medical Services Commission as an Emergency Medical Technician

Must have successfully completed American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support course

Experience-

A minimum of 1 year of previous Emergency Medical Services experience preferred

Extensive exposure to confidential information or matters

Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, healthcare personnel, physicians, patients, volunteers, visitors and outside agency personnel
