What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at Rush Memorial Hospital?
The Pharmacy Technician works under general supervision in performing pharmacy related duties as assigned by the pharmacist. This work is carried out with the direction of the pharmacist to whom the employee is directly responsible and includes working in an Outpatient and Inpatient pharmacy setting. RMH Pharmacy Technicians have the ability to grow and develop their skills through a career ladder. The career ladder contains levels of sterile compounding and certifications. The Pharmacy Department encourages the staff through education and development.

Knowledge & Experience
Skills-
Possess the necessary interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with patients, coworkers and other health professionals.
Must be able to work in Microsoft Word and Excel.
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Degree or non-degree college level study or health trade vocational training. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required. If not certified at time of hire, must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
Previous pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.
Must be able to work with and properly handle different types of people.
