JOB SUMMARY
-
Under the direction of the Radiologist and the Director of Imaging, ultrasound technologist performs diagnostic sonograms at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of the technical detail. The technologist must be able to perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Is responsible to perform these duties for emergency patients, in and out-patients that present to the imaging department. The technologist must be pleasant, courteous and cheerful to patients, providers and hospital staff at all times, regardless of hour or situation.

Ability to give and follow instructions accurately

Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, family members, and health care personnel

Effective time management and task prioritizing skills

Verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills are required.

Knowledge-
-
Basic Life Support (BLS)
-
Competence in the use of information technology; Cerner experience preferred

Education-
-
An Indiana State Department of Health License and an ARRT or RDMS ultrasound license.

Experience-
-
Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound School or Ultrasound Program

Current registration as a Sonographer with the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau

Extensive exposure to confidential information

Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, department managers, providers, patients, volunteers, visitors, and outside personnel.
