Pay Range : 23.12-36.41

Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may very depending on the circumstances of each case.

Responsibilities

1.Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to assigned students emotional, behavioral, and academic development.

2.Develops Individual Education Plans for each student based on their emotional and academic needs as well as stage of growth and development. Prepares daily lesson plans reflecting each students I.E.P. Assesses the physical, emotional, and academic capabilities of each student and provides instruction relative to that childs ability to learn. Selects and uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals with respect to students cognitive ability.

3.Monitors, evaluates, and plans for transitional discharge placement when appropriate.

4.Keeps accurate records for each childs academic development. Completes report cards. Organizes and participates in parentteacher conferences and maintains open communication with parents regarding their childs progress. Prepares written Academic Summaries for I.E.P.s and 3 year re-evaluation and other conferences when appropriate. Summaries reflect both academic and behavioral / emotional progress. Communicates with participating school districts regarding appropriate student placement as needed.

5.Collaborates and consults with members of classroom team and related services personnel to provide coordinated treatment plans for each student.

6.Participates in staffings and conferences. Reviews I.E.P. progress. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions on each students plan. Alters treatment plan as needed. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues and team members in a professional manner.

7.Participates in the development of policies and procedures for writing I.E.P.s and 3-year re-evaluation summaries.

8.Acquires and maintains knowledge of the Illinois State Board of Education Standards. Keeps records and information of the Illinois State Board of Education, Rush University Medical Center, and referring school districts with regard to I.E.P.s and reevaluations of placement. Maintains the confidentiality of information regarding students, their families, and records.

9.Collaborates with other clinical educators in the curriculum planning for the school. 10.Participates in the review and re-evaluation of the curriculum on an annual basis. Reviews and evaluates appropriate textbooks for the classroom. Has knowledge of school budget. Maintains a current inventory of textbooks and materials in classroom.

11.Demonstrates professional development.

12.Maintains current knowledge through professional journals and papers in the education field. 13.Participates in and attends conferences regarding relevant special education and / or emotional disorders topics.

14.Maintains professional competence through self-selected professional growth activities. 15.Collaborates with researchers within the institution.

16.Participates in data collection within program.

17.Shares knowledge of current research in education.

Other Information Required Job Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Education or Special Education from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • A valid comparable certificate from another state or substitute teaching certificate may be considered if LBS I certification is in progress. Will work under supervision of certified teacher until LBS I obtained.
