Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Hardware Technical Writer for a 6-month contract to work in a cross-functional team on a hardware industry standard specification. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a public-facing document and collaborate with engineers across multiple technology companies. If you have a deep interest in the hardware behind cutting-edge consumer products, this role offers a chance to be involved in shaping future product releases.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and rewrite existing standards documents for brevity and clarity.
- Attend regular meetings with subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Initiate and conduct document reviews for accuracy and adherence to style guides.
- Manage deliverables and deadlines efficiently.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Engineering (Electronics or Computer Science) with at least 10 years of experience.
- Proficiency in English grammar and punctuation with strong writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Word and applying industry-style guides.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience writing for public standards and regulatory bodies.
- Design experience with hardware interfaces.
