Key Responsibilities:
- Investment Accounting: Oversee the accounting and reporting for various investment portfolios, including fixed income, equity, and alternative investments. Accurately record all transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, income recognition, and valuations, while ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to investments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to NAIC SSAP (Statement of Statutory Accounting Principles), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other regulatory requirements.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of investment accounts, promptly resolving discrepancies and coordinating with custodian banks and external partners to ensure data accuracy.
- Audit Support: Assist with audit processes by preparing schedules, providing necessary documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries. Ensure all financial records and statements are audit-ready.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with investment management, operations, and reporting teams to align investment activities and maintain seamless communication.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
- Information Exchange & Communication: Facilitate clear and accurate communication across internal and external contacts at all levels of complexity.
- 7-9 years of experience in investment management, investment operations, investment performance monitoring, or risk management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with an analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of internal controls and accounting standards to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.); knowledge of Oracle and Princeton Asset Management is a plus.
- Experience with process improvement, including skills in SQL and other computer languages.
- Experience using Princeton Financial / PAM and Oracle.
