Job Description
A Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on product development is required to support our existing products through continuous engineering support. Key responsibilities include BOM creation, drawing creation, documentation release, and cost reduction.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of machine design and mechanical power transmission, with experience in weldments and heavy structural design. They should be able to perform and document mechanical calculations, finite element analysis, etc.
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in mechanical design, mechanical drafting, or mechanical engineering, with additional work experience in the field. Experience with the design and construction of large electromechanical equipment is also desirable.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Fundamentals of mechanical engineering principles.
- Principles of low-cost design and ease of manufacture and assembly.
- Basic analysis of designs, components, and subsystems for fit and finish.
- Use of appropriate design techniques.
- MATERIALS PROPERTIES TO IDENTIFY/SELECT PARTS TOLERANCE, FINISH, AND FITNESS FOR USE.
- Understanding of pertinent electrical and/or mechanical design and drafting standards, and drafting practices as applicable.
- Understanding of pertinent US and European Standards and Codes, as applicable.
- Understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical schematics or diagrams as needed.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and assembly practices.
- Experienced in 2-D and/or 3-D CAD as required.
- Preferred SolidWorks.
