Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Type: 12 Months (with possible extension)
Pay Rate: $50/hr. to $60/hr.
Travel: Domestic travel within the USA as required
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support mechanical building system startups, commissioning activities, and construction administration. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design, construction management, and industrial manufacturing environments, particularly in automotive or similar industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities.
- Review product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices (Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, Arc Flash Safety, etc.).
- Apply extensive knowledge of building codes and professional industry standards, including IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, and FM.
- Coordinate with building construction contractors and vendors for equipment testing, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage weekend and plant shutdown work, coordinating with contractors, plant facilities, and manufacturing teams.
- Conduct continuous work progress inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to project timelines and coordination with other departments.
- Provide project status updates and engineering reports to Project Managers.
- Contribute to improving technical specifications and project standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2 years of experience in construction management.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Experience in mechanical system design criteria development.
- Prior experience in automotive, engine, transmission, or vehicle facilities (or similar industrial manufacturing).
- Strong organizational, communication, and schedule management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Bluebeam and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of commissioning and construction administration best practices.
Salary : $50 - $60
