Summary
The Tax Director – Renewables Partnership Reporting will lead and oversee a team of co-sourced tax professionals responsible for income tax reporting, compliance, and tax-related financing deliverables. This role focuses on delivering high-quality tax information to internal and external stakeholders while mentoring and developing team members. The position also involves implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and maintaining strong internal relationships. Reporting to the VP of Tax, this role requires 1-4 weeks of travel and specializes in tax accounting and reporting for renewables partnerships, including limited liability companies. Experience with tax equity partnerships, tax credits/incentives, and HLBV accounting in the renewable energy sector is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage tax accounting and reporting for renewable joint ventures, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting requirements.
- Oversee SOX controls for quarterly and annual US GAAP reporting related to joint ventures.
- Conduct income tax accounting research for new business transactions and prepare documentation memos.
- Serve as the primary tax contact for renewables business and finance teams, addressing complex tax-related matters.
- Develop tax budgeting and forecasting strategies for renewable joint ventures.
- Direct and mentor tax staff and oversee co-source personnel supporting tax functions.
- Ensure tax compliance and reporting efficiency as the business expands and evolves.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax with 10 years of relevant experience.
- CPA, Master’s in Taxation, or Law degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Subchapter K taxation required.
- Experience with Tax Equity Investment (TEI) Partnerships and Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value (HLBV) preferred.
- Background in renewable energy taxation is a plus.
