Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sandblaster/Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting or finishing by using sandblasting techniques. This role requires a strong understanding of various materials and the ability to operate sandblasting/painting equipment safely and efficiently. The sandblaster/painter will work on commercial projects, ensuring high-quality results that meet our clients' standards.
Duties
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean, smooth, or prepare surfaces for finishing.
- Follow schematics and project specifications to ensure accurate execution of tasks.
- Prepare surfaces by removing paint, rust, or other contaminants using appropriate techniques.
- Spray paint and sand blast heavy equipment using spray gun and sandblasting equipment.
- Clean grease, dirt, rust, and old paint from equipment using solvent, water, rags, brushes, pneumatic wire brush and chipping hammer.
- Maintain and clean paint and blasting materials.
- Prepare equipment for painting and blasting restoration; tape and mask equipment; mix paint and color match.
- Collaborate with team members on various projects, including remodeling and concrete finishing.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine inspections and repairs as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in other maintenance person tasks as required, including trim carpentry and residential painting.
- Inspect finished product for overall quality
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sandblasting or related fields such as commercial painting.
- 3 years of experience with a verifiable work history.
- Must be able to perform blasting and painting applications as directed by supervision.
- Proficiency in operating power tools and other relevant equipment.
- Must have knowledge in the use of conventional component application in painting/blasting tools not limited to paint guns, sanding tools and material blasters, grinding tools, etc.
- Must be able to perform all blast requirements and functions utilizing all application methods and identify and correct blast and paint deficiencies as required by the specifications.
- Knowledge of airless paint spraying techniques is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- A valid driver's license may be required for travel between job sites.
