Rutgers Men’s Ice Hockey, AAU, is currently seeking an Ice Hockey Coach. Applicants should demonstrate a good understanding of ice hockey and an ability to lead the team during practices and games. Previous coaching/playing experience is required. Applicants would need to attend all games and practices, a commitment of roughly 8 hours per week.
Rutgers University Men’s Ice Hockey, AAU, is a competitive non-varsity hockey program from Rutgers University — New Brunswick. Formerly ACHA Division II, the program has transitioned to the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and competes in the Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference (ECHC), hybrid Division I/Division II/Division III. The executive board is seeking to turn the program around and construct a first-class organization that will pave the way for NCAA Division I hockey at Rutgers— a Top-25 Public Academic Institution, member of the Big Ten Conference, and the eighth-oldest academic institution in the United States. With roots that trace back to 1892 and a club that was formally founded in 1960, Rutgers has one of the oldest and most historic hockey programs in the nation.
The season runs from early September through late February, with an approximately 1.5-month break between December and January in accordance with the University’s final exam dates and Winter Break. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with games generally between Friday and Sunday.
The Empire Conference is based in the New York Tri-State region featuring colleges from New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. Long-distance games feature a chartered team bus. Coaches and team staff are provided with team apparel and have travel accommodations (airfare, hotel) covered.
