JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director – Art Therapy is responsible for clinical oversight and program management of the Art Therapy program. This includes all aspects of care from the referral process to discharge, including program evaluation and quality improvement monitoring.

The Associate Director – Art Therapy also provides supervision for all Art Therapy program staff related to problem solving, improving interventions, addressing ethical and legal issues, and developing clinical skills of practitioners in a fully integrated primary and behavioral health care setting. This position functions with a great deal of professional independence under the general guidance and supervision of the Integrated Health Director.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  1. Provides face to face supervision for all Art Therapy program staff as needed and appropriate.
  2. Responsible for monitoring productivity standards of Art Therapy program staff and providing regular reports to Integrated Health Director.
  3. Manages/maintains referral process, case assignment, and tracking of all Art Therapy referrals.
  4. Develops and maintains relationships with community partners and other youth serving organizations for successful coordination.
  5. Tracks program outcomes using CAFAS, PHQ-A, UCLA-RI, and client/family reports (or other tools as appropriate).
  6. Participates in DWIHN meetings to support coordination with efforts to improve practices across the county.
  7. Provides reports related to program outcomes to DWIHN as applicable.
  8. Oversees grant implementation plans and reporting requirements as applicable to Art Therapy programs.
  9. Trains clinical staff on various topics to support successful service delivery including electronic health record, documentation, clinical skills, intervention implementation, and more.
  10. Provides fidelity monitoring of evidence-based practices (EBPs).
  11. Trains clinical staff on various topics relevant to the practice of Art Therapy including therapeutic approaches, art interventions, Art Therapy assessments, considerations related to group art therapy and family art therapy, and more.
  12. Ensures safety guidelines related to the purchasing and storage or art supplies and the use of art supplies with persons served.
  13. Facilitates regular open studio Art Therapy hours and group Art Therapy sessions as needed.
  14. Manages program growth and development to reflect current needs of persons served.
  15. Participates in Behavioral Health team meetings, Integrated Health and Wellness Center meetings, Behavioral Health Associate Director meetings, and other collaborations with other departments as needed.
  16. May maintain a fluctuating caseload of 1-3 cases based on department needs and capacity.
  17. Conducts face-to-face comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
  18. Facilitates person-centered planning process with persons served, including development of person-centered treatment plans.
  19. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment according to HIPPA standards.
  20. Provides individual, family, and group therapy in the community utilizing evidence-based practices.
  21. Collaborates and participates with treatment team, community partners, and other natural supports identified by the persons served and their families.
  22. Initiates referrals for psychiatric evaluations when deemed clinically appropriate.
  23. Assists families with accessing and utilizing community resources.
  24. Prepares reports for other agencies, DHHS, courts, schools, etc.
  25. Maintains timely and accurate client records to ensure they meet DWIHN, CARF, and agency standards.
 
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Counseling and Art Therapy and have a license as a professional counselor (LPC) from the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. 
  • Art Therapy credentials: ATR or ATR-BC or a plan to obtain one  
  • Three (3) years’ experience working with children, youth, and families in a social service/mental health/juvenile justice/community-based service setting. 
  • Three (3) experience with general mental health diagnosis and treatment. 
  • Experience working with individuals and families involved with Department of Health and Human Services, Foster Care, Juvenile Justice, and experience with homelessness.  
  • At least one (1) year experience leading a program or team.  
  • Current Approved Clinical Supervisor, ACS (or equivalent) certification OR Detailed workplan for obtaining ACS (or equivalent) certification to supervise limited licensed clinical staff.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and positive LGBTQ development.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software.  
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
