Salary Range: $67,984 - $91,600
The purpose of this job is to provide assistance to the County Road Superintendent and the County Engineer in the technical areas concerning the roadways, such as: evaluating drainage issues, basic surveying, producing an engineering analysis including hydrological and hydraulic studies, creating a design to mitigate issues, overseeing a construction crew to implement design and being a point of contact between the community and the Highway Department. Highway Department duties and responsibilities consist of preparing engineering analysis of roadways including traffic counts, designing intersection and corridor improvements, and signage. County Engineer Department duties and responsibilities include reviewing site and subdivision plans, traffic impact studies, and permits for compliance. Additional duties include updating technical specifications, implementing appropriate procedures and ordinances, assisting construction inspectors, aiding with compliance of FEMA guidelines, researching information and preparing reports, creating site design work as directed, developing project cost estimates and attending public meetings as requested or required.
