What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Technician position at Rutherford County Schools?
NATURE OF WORK:
An employee hired for this position performs task to aid in the ongoing support of teachers and students using technology devices. The employee will provide hardware and software support to teachers including, but are not limited to, software training, technical advice, hardware or software installation, trouble shooting technology issues, etc. Employee may need to research appropriate manuals to assist in finding solutions. Assignment of technology devices will be done by this employee for all students at their location. Employee will also assist students on a daily basis with their technology devices that are assigned to them.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure that teachers and other staff know how to use available software and hardware.
- Ensure equipment is working properly.
- Perform disk back-ups as required.
- Train users for full utilization of hardware and software.
- Provide timely resolution of computer problems by providing solutions or referrals.
- Assist in helping install new software as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED:
- General knowledge of computers, specifically Apple products.
- General knowledge of related information technology devices.
- Ability to communicate with users to determine the nature of problems that arise.
- Ability to communicate effectively with users who may not be adept in clarifying problem solutions.
- Ability to train teachers and/or students in the use of the hardware or software needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and enviroment.
- Ability to comprehend the purpose of teacher designed strategies as a fulfillment of the instructional objectives.
- Ability to solve independently most minor problems relating to the technology devices used.
