Responsibilities:
The RN in the Behavioral Health Unit collaborates with the medical staff and other members of the healthcare team to provide quality patient care. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing assessments, including physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age-appropriate, cultural, and discharge planning needs
- Developing and implementing individualized plans of care, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment
- Documenting patient care given and communicating patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
- Collaborating across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
- Advocating for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
- Providing education and training to other team members as needed
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- An Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred)
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- A current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state compact license)
- A minimum of 1-3 years of recent acute care experience within the past 3 years (recently compact multistate or North Carolina state licensure may substitute by acquisition to prior joined one and minimum short periods experienced listed)
