What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intervention Specialist position at Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union?
Rutland Northeast supervisory Union is accepting applications for an Intervention Specialist to begin immediately.
The Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing a positive and successful experience for student(s) identified through the special education process as needing help with social, personal and/or behavioral issues. This is to be accomplished in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The Intervention Specialist will be responsible for supporting a variety of student(s) within the classroom, school or community setting. The student(s) may remain constant over time or fluctuate depending upon the needs of the program. They must ensure the development and safety of these students in accordance with federal and municipal legislation and policies. The Intervention Specialist will be respectful of the students and their parents, and should help to keep facilities safe, and well maintained.
The following qualifications are required:
Associates Degree
Highly Qualified under Title I requirements and pass the Crisis Prevention test annually.
Other Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with students with disabilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special educators and other members of the school community
Expected to work with a variety of students in a variety of settings throughout the school day. This support will cover a broad continuum from 1:1 prevention services to prevent behavioral issues, to carrying out and possibly modifying behavioral plans.
Ability to collect data for input at meetings.
Ability to assure the health and safety of the assigned student(s) and other students with which the assigned student(s) comes in contact.
Ability to assist in developing letters of responsibilities, disciplinary plans and appropriate behavioral contracts with assigned students.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal, state and RNESU requirements
Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
Ability to act on and uphold the policies and procedures established by the board and administration
