Job Summary:
Entry-Level Human Resources / Payroll Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources Director. This role involves assisting with various HR functions, such as recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, and payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Position Status:
Full-Time - Non-Exempt
Key Responsibilities:
- Human Resources Support
- Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring all required documentation is completed and submitted.
- Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
- Help organize and maintain HR files, both physical and digital, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
Payroll Support:
- Assist with processing payroll on a timely basis, ensuring accuracy of hours worked, pay rates, and deductions.
- Verify timecards and attendance records for accuracy, resolving any discrepancies with employees or managers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable wage laws, including overtime, shift differentials, and other pay-related concerns.
- Prepare and maintain payroll-related reports, including tax filings and benefit deductions.
- Assist in processing payroll taxes and ensuring all withholdings are accurate.
- Handle other payroll-related administrative tasks, such as garnishments or payroll adjustments, as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in HR, payroll, or administrative roles is a plus, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with payroll software is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Additional Skills:
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and processes.
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations, especially in a healthcare or long-term care environment, is a plus.
- Experience with electronic timekeeping systems and payroll processing software is beneficial.
Working Conditions:
- This position will require occasional sitting, standing, and walking.
- The environment will involve frequent interaction with staff, management, and employees within a skilled nursing facility.
