What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Specialist position at RW Gate Company Inc?
This position is responsible for handling, moving, and storing or staging various materials in order to meet our customer deadlines within our assembly and shipping departments. You will be responsible for performing cycle counts, resolving inventory discrepancies, receiving, stocking, and staging materials for assembly in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. You will also work cooperatively with the other members of the shop floor and management team to support other tasks as required.
Work Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours/week. Monday – Friday 7am-3:30pm with occasional overtime available.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
- Operating forklifts and pallet jacks to move product, unload trucks, trailers, and containers of freight.
- Research and reconcile inventory discrepancies, receipt exceptions, shipping issues, customer returns, or damaged material.
- Receive material coming into the building by contractors, customers, or other warehouses to be routed to offsite operations for further processing.
- Verifying the quantity and description of materials received by checking merchandise against packing lists and work orders
- Load common carrier vehicles with outbound materials as needed.
- Special projects as assigned by the shop supervisors
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Operations Manager
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis
- Ability to work in variety of outdoor weather conditions as needed
- 2 years of experience in inventory control within mid to highvolume, made to order fabrication shop is preferred
- Experience organizing, maintaining, and controlling inventory movements within a fabrication environment
- Computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or within a team setting
Preferred:
- Previous experience or certification to operate forklift
- Previous experience in Great Plains ERP system (or similar)

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday
