Business Solutions Manager Description Overview
The Business Solutions Manager leads the Technology and Continuous Improvement department's Business Solutions team, driving process advancement initiatives and operational efficiencies across the Brokerage and Freight Management divisions. This role is central to the development and execution of through strategic collaborations with both internal teams, and external stakeholders, including Freight Management account managers and their customers. By balancing strategic project management with effective leadership, this position ensures our project solutions exceed customer expectations from design through post-implementation support.
Duties and responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Comprehensive Project Solution, Management, and Execution
- Drive the identification and implementation of forward-thinking solutions that address the unique challenges of our internal and external customers.
- Lead and provide direction to team members throughout the entire project lifecycle from design through post-implementation, ensuring seamless execution and ongoing support for hyper-care phases of both large-scale logistics applications and smaller initiatives.
- Oversee and verify that project plans, schedules, and timelines are thorough and accurately detailed. Once project initiation, continuously monitor adherence and guidance on regular project status updates, communication of major milestones, identification of potential risks, and documentation, communication, and tracking of meeting outcomes, action items, and deliverables.
Strategic Collaboration and Engagement
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers to understand their challenges and opportunities, and support business initiatives that promote growth and profitability.
- Ensure priorities, tasks, and projects align with strategic objectives, and maintain clear and transparent communication among all stakeholders to effectively monitor progress and manage any challenges.
- Design end-to-end solutions that propel growth, drive cost savings, and achieve operational efficiencies across departments.
Team Leadership and Capability Building
- Lead and set clear expectations to direct the team’s work on multifaceted projects by emphasizing collaboration, assistance, and shared knowledge.
- Mentor and coach team members to be accountable for delivering projects on time and within scope, as well as continuously elevating their capabilities to manage complex customer interactions and solutions development.
- Prioritize, manage, and coach the team to ensure that all work being executed improves customer experience, team member effectiveness, or profitability, and quickly exits those that can’t or won’t.
- Implement strategies for team enhancement to align with the company’s strategic objectives.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure budget accountability, identify cost-saving opportunities, and enhance overall performance and profitability.
- Anticipate risks, uncover inefficiencies, take ownership of challenges and complex issues; implement contingency plans and corrective actions through critical thinking and creative problem-solving, and achieve results while maintaining deadlines or customer commitment.
Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications to perform the job successfully include:
Education: 4-year degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Continuous Improvement, or a related field is preferred
Experience: At least 5 years of professional work experience with a strong emphasis on 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) or logistics/supply chain management sectors.
Skills and Competencies
Project Management: Strong experience in overseeing projects from inception through to post-implementation, including planning, execution, and evaluation stages. Ability to manage projects effectively under budgetary and time constraints.
Customer Relationship Management: Excellent skills in building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to understand and anticipate customer needs and develop solutions that enhance customer satisfaction.
Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Capable of identifying growth opportunities and operational improvements, developing strategies, and implementing solutions that align with organizational goals. Advanced analytics skills, comfortable working with large sets of customer data to drive decision-making and improvements.
Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, crucial for negotiating, persuading, and aligning various stakeholders towards common goals. Ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively to a diverse audience. Highly skilled in fostering collaboration and driving teams towards achieving strategic objectives.
